Very cool! The paint colors and decals add a nice period touch. |
Thanks, I really liked the color when I saw it at the hardware store. I think it is some kind of green tone that suits the pick up very well |

And this is a diecast that I modified for a good friend of mine, trying to replicate his T2. The 'hippy motive' is hand painted on both versions

millennium falcon update, left mandible is done, porsche parts added include - 1/2 a crank case, 1 cylinder head, 1 set of cylinders, 1 flywheel, VW bug parts include 1 engine bottom, 1 36hp fan shroud, 1 vw shroud, 1 generator stand, several starters and generators, 2 mufflers and 1 heater box hose,, i also added headlights to the falcon, inside also has gray rubber mats for crawling on to work on equipment, the mandibles have really been a "warm up" as the hard part is the main interior, so much to do!

I have never seen an official double cab offered by Tamiya, for example. There are a few people who make resin kits that are very nice....but pricey aswell.
There is always the possibility of making one yourself (or myself in that case),
cheers,
Abel

I've been thinking about a DC myself for a while now. I was planning on using a van and pickup kitbash rather than a resin body since they are so hard to come by. I've also been getting a strong urge to do a Barndoor conversion of late......
Good work everyone on the latest entries! _________________ 1956 Standard Sedan |

have been caring for my 91 year old father but managed to get some craft time in. I've decided to turn the ryefield 82e into a kdf kabrio as it has a nicely detailed dash and I've already got an 82e. here it is with parts just resting in place.

Thanks. I actually looked at this modeler for inspiration for the weathered pick up. His skills are really good.
...and yes, that was the Sanzot van from The Calculus Affair. Good eye!!
Now, here is a little bit of trivia for all of you: What VW appears on The Castafiore Emerald? |

Is that a 1/35 scale or 1/24? I am not familiar with that model. It looks very nice |

it's 1/35th scale by ryefield models - nice detail including engine but is a bit mixed up in what it is. says 82e but has 4wd and 3 seats of a kommandeurwagen...
is there an oval beetle in castafiore?
incidentally have you read this one? _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Thanks for the information. It looks like an interesting conversion. I will look into it.
I have never read that album. I know there are some renditions of Tintin albums.
No, sorry, no oval Beetle on The Castafiore Emeral,
cheers,

Found over the weekend for $5 at the Florida Antique Toy and Advertising Show, this AMT Volkswagen Minibug in 1/43 scale.
These little guys are tough to find. Not too many people know about them. I'll be throwing it in the brake fluid to get rid of the awful red paint. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

That's certainly an interesting find. I assume the body is plastic, but are the bumpers metal by any chance?
cheers,

it's weird being in lockdown and hearing of other folk going to shows etc like normal! I can't even go to a model shop to buy paint... _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

I guess I've never posted this one. The Minibug was part of a brief series of 1/43 snap-together kits. AMT is more well known
for its larger Superbug kit, which was a shortened Beetle body on its Manx chassis. This one had the proportions of a normal VW,
and the details were quite nice. It was also molded in the same yellow plastic as the Superbug, and came with its own clear
plastic display case. The only metal parts are the axles.

It's a double-edged sword, as I've been called back to work the office, which I'm not crazy about. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.
