What 2012 car do you think would be a cool show car in 2062?

Please don't go with the obvious. Everybody knows Exotics and sports cars will be future classics. I'm looking for something a little more under the radar.

For example a 1962 Chevy nova was just a normal small car but now it's a cool classic. Can you imagine someone restoring a 2012 Cruze 50 years from now? I sure can't. part of it is there was more diversity in styling in the 50's and 60's so a 1962 chevy is more unique then a 2012 Chevy
(lets see if it will let me correct my title typo)

I vote for the Pontiac Aztec. Heck, it is a classic right now.

The Hyundai Accent. The small, noisy, ugly car of yesterday. The VW Beetle of tomorrow.

It is a moot question as there is no car made today that will be restorable 50 years from now. Plastic crap will never be classic. Rolling Eyes

And she lives in the rust belt so it will be fun restoring this one in later years when it becomes mine

'97 to mid 2000's Jeep Wrangler.

In light of current pollution regulations and if the trend continues, almost any diesel pickup.

I'll be 106 years old then if I'm still alive and have my mind. Will or would be interesting as to what people want to restore then.

I can't see them making the 4 door jeep wrangler limited for much longer. I think the soft top will be desorable in the future.

Also possibly the suburu baja. Cone to think about it.. I'm surprised there arent any Brats showing up at shows now. It's just a foreign el camino.

Yep! I would say that just about any car from 2012 that survives 50 years will be rare and classic. I would say most are designed with the intention that they won't last too long.

And in 2052 you'll have to buy gas for your classic from "boutique" shops because gas stations will be a thing of the past.

Maybe.

Nothing gasoline powered will be around in 2062. There is no car made today that will have any collectable value in 20-30 years. The glory days of the automobile are gone.

I was thinking the same thing. Gasoline powered cars will probably all be outlawed by then.

As for the rest, well they are mostly plastic and that stuff will all deteriorate long before they become classics.

Anything we are familiar with now will just be displays in museums.

No reason you can't take a '68 Chevelle and retrofit a nuclear fusion engine into it. Smile

So you're saying that the DeLorean "Mr. Fusion" kits fit the 68 Chevelle as well?

Maybe they will make electric motor kits that can be retrofitted into the trunks of gasoline cars so they can still be driven.

I agree. The whole collectable car thing won't even be happening. Interesting to think about. Shit, singing and guitar playing are already passe.
