My mid '52 Deluxe sunroof does NOT have the beading. It is the same as the equivalent split window beetle rail. The rails are very similar to yours BUZZ but it appears that your extrusion has half of the rebate for the beading. Are you sure the other half hasn't been removed and polished out?

No photos at the moment but try to get some later.

well that was what i thought when i saw the delux trim one at the weekend.... so i had a close inspection, but there seems no evidence cut/grind or polish marks anywhere....

looking at the picture of the early ones above... they look very simular to that....

The entire sunroof section on the '52 and '53 are a separate stamping, that is just spot welded into an opening in the roof. This change seems to me it would be after the deep skylights.

Deep skylights ended in early 1953, the above posted brown roof is the newest known deep skylight compared to an original 54 Sunroof Kombi.

Focusing on the header detail difference, can anyone add any input on when these details changed on the sunroof opening? Were these details changed at the same time as the switch from handmade deep skylights?

Does anyone have a picture of the hornbecker sunroof rails? It should have the pre rubber trim rails.. So are the pre rubber trim rails basicly the same as the post rubber trim rails(late 59 and newer)?
