I am also curious as to whether the roof curvature and width is the same on a later split bus as the early bay? Specifically the sunroof opening. |
No and partially yes, definite no on the sunroof. Just what are you trying to do here? |
I want to convert my Westy to a small pop top, a la this:
I know, sacrilege, welding screw holes shut, etc, but that's what I'm going to do.
Having a hell of a time finding a pop top, but I have found a few from late split windows, wondering if they are technically adaptable.
I realize the thread has turned into a blueprint/tech page, but have you considered chopping/frankenstene a sportsmobile top? a little fiberglass work but It is an option. chop down to the size you want, keep the scissor mech in the center, done. you could even make a phony "rib" to cover the seam. just thinkin bout options
And also, I just like having diagrams for reference. I have an original blueprint of a Beetle from Germany 1971. Would love to have one reproduced for my bus to go with it.
Edit. This is either a Riviera top in the photo, or a European top. I've looked there as well for one even to have it shipped internationally (yes I want it that badly), but so far to no avail... |
