there's a photoshop of what you would be looking at, normally you won't see black on black, but you could do white(only had a photo of white super so I can't show you what it would look like)

Want the look without the hassle and expense of vinyl...Mask the roof, sand it with 80 grit, spray it with black gravel guard using a shutz gun. If you like the look, top coat it with flat black. For other colors use tan gravel guard.

Gun and gravel guard $40.00

i wouldnt do it. Its just one of those things that wont look good on a beetle. Also another hassle for the next owner to deal with and hes going to say how stoopid the PO was for covering the top of the car in bed liner. PLEASE DONT DO IT

Look up Plastidip, you can easily remove it if you aren't happy with how it looks.

If done properly, right temp and pressure, it looks similar to vinyl. I would not do it to the top but have used it where it was designed to be used.

It would look......not good.
Somehow black paint doesn't,look as bad. How about one of those aftermarket rag roofs from the 80's if you want some vinyl up there?

I personally wouldn't do it.

BUT if you want to.

Rather than a shutz gun, SEM makes an aresol texture spray that is much more sutble than gravel guard, and it's paintable. The texture is similar to a Jeep hardtop.

spray it with satin black and you'd probably have the look that you're going for.
