you can only take a little off and a grinder would work best

moving to Type 4 CVs

car has flat torsion bar caps and swingarm spring plates, so you need to cut a long skinny wedge to notch properly

A plasma arc is very intense and isolated heat. It cuts so fast you don't have any real heat run-out or distortion. You won't introduce an appreciably greater amount of heat than with an abrasive cut-off wheel. I cut down swing plates to work with my IRS rear and also notched them with a plasma cutter. No harm no foul.

I ground down the housing it self . giving the the spring plate a large flat area to bottom out on . this keeps the strength in the spring plate. and is easyer on the plates when you do bottom out the car. rather than hammering them in on concentrated spot.

That just my two cents Smile
