of the symptoms. won't idle without removing the hose from the aux air valve to the big "S" hose and if i try to rev it bogs down and the vacuum
drops drastically. I NEED HELP....TOM |

Welcome Tom,
When you were doing the tests in the manual what were the fuel pressure readings? Have you tried your spare temp sensor 2 yet? Is the AFM plug securely seated in it's socket? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Tks for your reply. The fuel preasure stays right on 30# and I changed out the temp sensor and cleaned the plugs and sockets of both the cpu
unit and the AFM. I also bypassed the decelerator valve but since than did'nt seen to make any difference I put it back. If I leave the hose off from the aux air valve it's hard to start but if I leave it on, after a few sec
it starts runing really rough so to keep it running I have to pull it off then
it will idle nice, just won't take the gas. Tks again Tom |

Make sure the door in the AFM is not stuck from a backfire etc. Use a long wooden dowell from the air filter side to make sure it moves. Also disconnect the CSV connector after it starts to be sure you don't have a stuck CSV which is pumping in lots of fuel. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Hi Tom, I've got a couple of thoughts here, but rather than rattling them off, can you tell us whether this is a cold start issue only? Or, if you "work it" for a few minutes until the engine warms up, does it eventually start to run smoothly?
How did this begin? All of a sudden? Or, after you did some work on the engine?
Does the rough idle begin as soon as the engine starts? Or, does it start to idle badly a few seconds later?
Let us know the answers, and let's see where this goes. _________________ *****************

Have you checked the resistance of your TSII sensor. With a bad sensor the engine will cold start fine, but as soon as the heads begin to warm it is going to start running very rich and likely stall out unless you give it additional air somehow. |
