I'm going to do my utmost to drive her as much as I can. My comute to work in Denver is about an hr so I Will start there as soon as I get the breaks done. When Jim drove the care the clutch pedal was way stiffer then he normaly feels so this winter the goal is to drop the moter. Lean it up and replace all lines and install new throw out bearing, pressure plate, and clutch. I Will get as much road time as I can. Thanks for the advice. It's going to be crowded in that little notch with Ellen, Ryan, and myself pliers tools and spare parts o yea and lugage. I do most of my posting from my phone not sure how all those double post happen, Thinking butt poeting. Lol any way whoever cleaned them up for me thanks. Leo |

Haven't posted anything in this thred since I got my square. Well the notch has taken a back seat to the square but still getting love when time permits. In the last 3 months I have put more miles on the notch then the previous 10 years of owning it. This notch is the best driving VW I have ever owned. Well wen I was 16 yeas old I was given a 68 square with only 27000 miles on it all I had to do was remove the EFI put some dule solex on it and that was for sure the best driving vw I ever had. ( i know but i was omly 16 and could tune carbs and had no ide how to even go about trouble shooting the EFI) Any way some of the final touches I wanted to make on the notch drive train where new axls as the CV boots on one inner was tore. So this past weekend the notch finale got its new axls. No difrence but just piece of mind nowing they are new.

Glad to hear your notch has been running great for you, Leo.
Turns out stock FI ain’t so bad after all, eh? LOL
I've been lookin' for a stock '69 notch just like yours.
I should have made you an offer at the Colorado Invasion before Jim helped getting it to run _________________ 1972 SquareBack.....recycled back to life......

Yeah, but it was Ryan who with Jim's help got it running.
I do agree with Dave in that I'm glad to hear you've been driving it a lot. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Dave,
Jim Adney actually e Mailed me telling me of your intrest in the car. Sorry but it's going to stay with me for now. It won't be neglected to much longer. Hopefully the square will be done soon then all my attention will turn back to the notch. I want to keep the notch a survivor for the most part all mmechanics ar complete. I wouldent hesitate to drive this notch anywhere. Next order of business is rust repair then paint. I already have all the interior done so it's not to far off from being completed. Hope to see u at the next invasion.
Leo

Dave yes the stock EFI is awsome. Just didn't care to understand it when I was a teen so it was always the first thing that came off😆. Now that I understand how it works I love it. I actually bought a squareback for Ryan and it's EFI as well and will stay that way. It's also a 69. |

I know, I was there. But it sure looked like Ryan and Jim were doing the most work (they got the dirtiest). I know you were pulling parts out of the truck, for them to use. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thanks dirtslinger. I try to buy up what I can as it comes available. But I'm only allowed to restore one at a time. Wife's rule! But it's the only one she has put in front of me. |

Everett, I plan on putting my finished cars on the second floor plus parts I have been collecting. It will be the man cave and a place to chill as I work on the VW.
Finished car #1 and 6 more to go.

Morning Everett, I designed the building to have a second floor just for the purpose of having a place to display my finished cars. The shop will have a 4 post lift on locking and removable casters so I can roll it anywhere in she shop to both work on cars and lift them to the second floor. The tarped mess in the middle of the floor is my 2 post lift that will go in the second 12x12 door. Bunch of time went into the design but money is running out quickly so could be a few years till my shop is exactly how I want it. |

WOW, that really gives you an idea of how big the new shop is, or how small the Notch is compared to the building. Great pic showing the contrasts between the 2. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Bob, thanks.
I told Ellen all winter long that I wish I had gone bigger but after I put the notch in the shed this weekend I realized it was big enough! |

Been a short lazy summer here in Colorado. Didn't get much done on the shed or any of my VW. I will post some picks of where the notch build is at right now. She has been striped of all Parts and media blasted to bare metal. The rust isn't half as bad as I thought. Not what I had planed on doing with this build but after doing the square I wanted a little more for this notch. The naked notchback
This was a sweet little driver befor I did this to it |

Looks like standard equipment rust to me.
I'm sure you'll get it fixed and not see it again. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

What is your plan for metal replacement, Leo?
Do you have a donor car for some of the bigger areas or are you going to fabricate / patch it all? _________________ 1972 SquareBack.....recycled back to life......
