I was reading http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=327351&highlight=spark+plug

I was cleanin up my garage.. found some plugs from my Gti, which I ended up going back to Copper due to my coilpack/Standalone not liking these.

So, being as I have a set of these (ran me 12 a pop), I'm like to try and use them on my van!

Any one else using these finewire iridiums on their WIP?

Right now the van runs a tad rough and only at idle, is not seeing anything other than 14mpg, even freeway..

The van has about 1700 miles on a fresh rebuild, all new components, but still runs a tad rough. Properly gapped plugs, new wires, tested, cap and rotor new as well.

The emissions were almost too clean. 160PPM I was at 23 idle. 26 at cruise.

I figured low idle quenching was occuring with these single electrode coppers I had in there..

I've gone to fine wire in other engines, had to retune, but after retune the engine ran far smoother.

So I've seen in previous applications where I'd installed these, and per the other feedback on forums, finewire removes quenching, low idle misfire.

Course there are deep seated preferences when it comes to Plugs which sometimes carry personal prerence akin to prophylactics.

Any feedback on these?

I did call Sparkplugs.com as a NGK source, and asked them the difference between BPR6 and the BR6ES,and she says the P stands for Projected meaninng the electrode is farther out?

I dunno.. I'm tempted to pull a plug and compare the overall dimensions of both for sanity..
