What is the history of these mirrors? At the cost of sounding noobish, where did these mirrors come from? Why are they called "Albert"? Who the F is Albert? Inquiring minds, ya' know...? |

I have aftermarket ones and love them, the only problem I have is keeping them adjusted because at shows people always bump them. _________________ Ovals are Overrated.....Click to view image

I was looking for something a little more detailed than "Aftermarket accessory maker, usually associated with mirrors from the 1950s-60s." |

Besides mirrors, Albert also sold many other VW-related accessories. I own a set of gravel guards & some door handle shields
Albert has also lighting accessories for both Type 1s & Type 2. The lighting lenses were very unique and are believed to be made of crystal glass.
On a side note, back in '02, a Albert mobile sales sample kit was advertised 4-sale on this web site. I wish I would have made the purchase, but the kit was in a Blue suitcase and contained mirrors, lights, vases and glass lenses for the VW. _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

The swan neck mirrors seemed to be a very popular fit in the scandinavian countries, from a lot of the cars that still seem to pop up out of the woodwork, either with the mirrors or the telltale shortened trim piece.. I had some repro ones on a 65 bug a few years back, they were pretty useless due to the vibration, but did seem to cover the blind spot. |

I have a pair on mine, and I love them.
Yes they can get knocked easily at shows, and then its a pain to adjust them, but they work well. It's good just being able to glance down at the bottom corner of the windscreen to check whats behind. _________________ Custom doesn't come in a Box! |
