|
|
Hey guys, I'm in the process of building up a 1966 Beetle, and although I know exactly what I want to do for performance and handling, I can't seem to find a look that I really like.
Although I'm definitely focusing on performance before anything visual, I really want to find a style that has that "It looks fast even while sitting still" quality to it.
So I'm asking you guys:
What's the fastest looking bug you've ever seen?
The best I've been able to come up with is this:

say what?
looks like an average slow 1300 marathon bug with the suspension dropped.
Looking fast and being fast are 2 totally different things.
Its not easy to make a car that was originally slow as look fast.
The closest thing is alot of Germanlook bugs.
Take a look through the Germanlook bugs thread, you'll find some inspiration there. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

I'm partial to German look cars and cars that have been track prepped. Think Kafer Cup, Copa Fusca, VW Fun Cup, etc.

Paint is nice and shiny but it looks slow
Geez look at those steel sunroofs wasted on track cars. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

speed in most instances when it comes to racing is to be minimalistic as unneeded gadjets or trim pieces mean weight and are for ascetics, which add weight, so for it too look fast to me it should be minimal, clean, and way over thought out
Looking fast can mean several different things to people. I hate the fast and the furious look. Im not the biggest fan of the mullholland look. I like some examples of germanlook but it seems to be to "modernizing" of a matured/aged car, like taking a recipe for a great wine made in 1970's then adding new or different flavors. This is not to say I certainly dont respect a well done german look, its just not to my taste. |
