Greetings,
my headlights and wipers are not working on my '74 baywindow. I checked my fuses and they seem fine. The headlights come on when the ignition switch is turned to the first position, but go out when the engine turns over.

I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone may have.

Cheers

They're supposed to go out when the engine is turning over. They come right back on when the Bus starts.

The problem is that they don't come back on.

Then you likely have igniition switch issues, got a spare you can plug in to test?

Forgive my ignorance, but would the ignition switch affect wiper function?

This problem first appeared a few months ago, and I would just fiddle with the highlight switch on the dash and the box it's connected to behind the dash and that would solve it. Tonight however, no matter how much fiddling I did, the headlights will not come on.

I had headlight switch problems with my '69 camper. It would start and run only with the switch in the parking light position. Any other position it would not start or die when the switch position was changed. The switch was tinkley when shaken.

Bottom line:
The problem was a disintegrated dimmer rheostat in the headlight switch and fixed with a new switch.

lengthy post that went off subject

On your year, wiper power comes through the ignition switch 'X' terminal - same as the headlights. See schematic in 'Technical'.
