I meant a connection on the harness connector. You're right that the exact input I'm looking for is the sort people who refurb & resell would have, but I was hoping some privy soul to reveal the secrets, as such things normally go on web forum, to the benefit of (almost) everybody. The revelation of similar secrets and the consequent money saved has meant the difference between bring able to own such a high-maintenance vehivle and not. |

i have an ECU that has failed and drives, it has a part throttle buck and erratic idle. i tried everything and my no name garage buddy in eugene lent me one to try. yep, back ECU that drove great at load... _________________ '87 Vanagon Weekender 'ELNINYO'

Hope I’m not hijacking this thread. But I’d like to share that I had a similar issue on my 89 Vanagon GL Westy (digifant) , no bucking or misfiring but engine would randomly cut out and die or just not fire up. Sometimes it would start again after I pulled over. I had the sparks, cables, rotor and ignition coil changed, but what seems to have solved it in the end was a new relay (driver side) of the two twin relays in the black box above coil. |
