PS Westy beds are not z-beds... Z-beds are standard non-westy back seats that have been converted to fold down. _________________ '71 Westy |

Hi Bob, Hope your bus is doing well and you're getting the bugs straightened out. Did you ever post feedback on the prior steering and fuel issues you had asked for help with? It's the only way others will know what works or doesn't and how to solve problems. Feedback is real important and those 2 issues are fairly common with bus folks. Did you get it resolved and what was the cause?

You might want to get started on the right foot with your picture postings. Here is some info and good instructions from the Samba's Administrator. Anyone being around here for a while will understand the value of this.
How to post photos/How to post a photo in the Forums

Using TheSamba.com Gallery to post a photo:
(Preferred rather than using another external image hosting service like Photobucket, which can disappear)
===========================================
When posting photos, PLEASE consider posting the photos in the Samba Gallery instead of just posting links to some picture hosting site.
If you post it elsewhere, the photos often become "dead links" after a certain period of time, which ruins the thread where you posted the photos. If you post them in the Samba Gallery they are here forever. Not only that, but in the Gallery users can search for photos so much easier than they can in the forums. It's worth it. |
Using the Samba Gallery for photos will prevent this from happening. Which has become a real hindrance and problem when searching prior topics for info. Also not using the Samba Gallery has really hindered show and event photo coverage.
Going to B.O.R. next weekend? _________________ 71 Superbug

Desertbusman...and everybody..sorry that I have not updated you on our'78...replaced the fuel pump and the coil for the "dying" problem...could not duplicate again after driven another 75 miles..so we decided to "punt"...and did not die again after another 60+ miles...pulled the fuel filter, no junk in there, fuel pressure was fine, drained some fuel...all looked OK. My tech, Dave, said he had seen one other occasion in his 30 years experience where the coil would fail...intermittently....but could not get any such cooperation from Ladybug...so...anyway...we will see. After putting about 200 miles total so far after the new ball joints/torsion arms, shocks, steering dampner the overall steering is about 70% better after the install...still stiff, but as I have been told by many others, it wil get better with time...and it is getting much better. Ladybug is going back to Dave tomorrow morning, as she stil has a couple of oil leaks since the engine build, and appear to be coming from the lower outer corner of the head gaskets..Dave said that he found out that his torque wrench had been failing...and is pulling her motor,checking everything, and replacing the gaskets. He has (and is)the attitude of a true craftsman..'you paid me good money for a quality engine, and it wil be fixed right." I have been making process on her cosmetic restoration, and she is beginning to take shape at last...going to BOR,, but to look for parts and enjoy the show..and hopefully see and meet some of you! _________________ 1963 Convertible (Lizzie) and 1964 Convertible (Patience) 1976 Westfalia (Winnie) |

Bob did you figure out how to transfer your IPAD pictures to your computer so that you can put them in the Samba Photo Gallery? _________________ 71 Superbug

No...not yet...spent all day Saturday doing exterior detail work to Ladybug...and all afternoon on Sunday trying to get the Photobucket/Albums thing set up...extremely frustrated..finally gave up Sunday evening..and I am NOT a quitter. Wondering if I need to go to the Apple Store, or find out if there is a class somewhere where I can learn how to do this stuff...use a computer daily in my business, but have never tried to do any "picture" programs yet. If I could just find someone to sit down with me and walk me though it, would probably take about 10 minutes. I have many pictures of the restoration that I would like to share and help others...one of the greatest things about Laybug is that she has all of her original stuff, except for the engine and the interior that was (updated...ugh) in the 80's. I have returned her interior to original..and I even have her original window sticker (not a repro). I am going to be at the show Sunday early (7:30AM...shopping for parts...) should I call you on your cell so we can get together? Will bring the IPAD so I can show you the resto pics..and will be driving Ladybug if Iget her back on Friday... _________________ 1963 Convertible (Lizzie) and 1964 Convertible (Patience) 1976 Westfalia (Winnie) |

kim...I coud not have done this without you!!!!!!!Bob...more pics tomorrow night...Will start fom the beginning of the restoration. The whole concept of this restoration is to bring her back to a great drivr...not a "trailer queen"..do not want her to look like she has been restored... she has all original paint except for fron doglegs, and eventually the slider and she wil get a "nose job"...only light surfce rust...an original 100% California bus! _________________ 1963 Convertible (Lizzie) and 1964 Convertible (Patience) 1976 Westfalia (Winnie) |
