Hmmmm... Something to cosider... Thanks Andy... Ive looked around the Split forums..as most of there glove boxes have material liners..Seems like it was stitched in two pieces then spray glued in.. Ill have to research a little more.. but the flocking seems easy.. _________________ Valentine, Ray J Sr.

I would say FLOCK IT! Thats what I did to my glove box for my 54. It looks sweet, was super easy and only cost about $15 for the flocking material. Here's some pics.
Just need to scuff up the inside a little.
paint on the color match adhesive/paint
another angle of the wet adhesive/paint
Just after I applied the flocking. You can see all the excess flocking. You'll shake out the exess later after the adhesive/paint dry's
This is after the 13 days I let it sit.
close up of flocking
Mock up to show how it looks. I still need to cut a couple notches in the glove box to get it to mount flush to the body.

Thanks "Major Woody" it's a pain in the ass being so anal with my car. Especially with me trying to get it ready for the classic in June.
As for the lighter in the ashtray - I don't smoke nor will anybody else smoke in my car. I wanted to install a lighter socket for my Helphos windshield spot light and for other thinks like a cell phone / IPod charger. And though that was a good place to install it with out putting a hole in the dash. I got an extra ash tray at the local parts swap meet and modified it to accept a lighter. I still have my OG ash tray just incase I want to put it back to normal. |

wow, that flocking looks fantastic! i had to buy a plastic repro since the shop lost my cardboard one, but now i can't quite get the strap to come up far enough so i can screw it back in. guess i'll have to take a trip to OSH to get a longer bolt. Maybe even pick up some flocking in the process.... _________________

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the extremely late reply to this thread but can any of you get be a good photo of the Oval glove box hinge? Im missing a pair an find them pretty hard to track down, so am wondering if its possible to make a pair?
Many thanks in advance for your help, the flocked glovebox looks great! Might have to do that when the time comes
Cheers,

... wish my '55 did not have an expensive 4" clock hole... but I like my $1 garage sale find... is a major conversation piece, these days and has kept perfect time for a couple of years now... it's perfect
...or how about stitching a glove box, back into being functional, on my Ghia?
