Man, it's a sign of the end for sure. 14 and 15" tires are getting htf in small sizes. Guess they have to stock all those 18's and 20's now Rolling Eyes My local tire guy could only offer Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring in 185-60-15, only choice he had for 15's that might fit a bus. What have you guys found or bought recently in the states that you could recommend for a plain ol stock bus? I need 15's right now but include your suggestions for 14's too, I'll need some soon. Thanks!

I just picked up 4 Goodyear Viva 2 tires at Wal-Mart 205*75*15.

They were really affordable- just needed something new on there- don't kill me for not putting on Firestones or shopping at Wal-Mart Smile Hey- they were on "rollback" for $70 each!

You may want to consider using tirerack.com if you have slim pickens locally

I just picked up a set of 215/75R15 BFG All Terrains for my '64, but they are a little taller than the stock tire.

I got them courtesy of this great site.

Out of curiosity, since I'm also going to have to buy tires soon, do any of you check the ply rating on the tires, such as the one's mentioned above (VW recommends 6 or 8 PR)? Do the above mentioned tires fit that rating?

I have a Bay ('69) but have 15" rims. Someone just sliced my tires so I was in the market. I ended up with Kumhos 205/75-15 with a load rating of 97T. $80 each plus all the fees and taxes from Discount. The 97 load rating translates to 1525 lbs (+/-). They are very quiet and smooth compared to the Bridgestone semi-off road tires they replaced.

Yeah- showed her the pic and she said, "wow that looks like a Honda Odyssey... WAIT THAT IS MY VAN!"
I don't think she is surprised honestly- as long as I don't ruin the headliners in her car she is fine with it Smile

You can search for 195R15 (no middle number) on tires-easy.com...I got my Cooper Discoverers from them a few years ago. I believe that 195R15 is the closest match for stock 15" tires. I think 195R14 is the best match for 14" tires.

Most web-sites don't let you search without the middle sidewall height number, which is why I like tires-easy.

I just searched now and they seem to only have Chinese tires in that size. They are load D rated though. Not sure if anyone has experience with Chinese-made tires.

Here are some pictures borrowed from some different people running them on the forums.

These are Kumho's that I had on my '65 briefly when I tried 15" wheels. I went back to 14's, and the Michelins posted above.

That being said, I could turn to lock in both directions without rubbing.
