I was going to ask in the paint and body section but I thought I might get a faster response here! I picked up a can of Rustoleum almond since I have read about how close the color match is with ivory. My ? Is do I primer my (bare metal) steering column with a white Rustoleum primer because they have a grey and some other colors too, and do I give it a light sand after primer before I spray the almond? Thanks fellas

I used almond on all my interior parts also. I did primer everything beforehand, and a light sand with a scotchbrite for me depended on how nice I was able to lay the primer down. Another tip is if you have some issues laying down the color wet sand between the coats. The new tips on the cans are actually have a pretty nice spray pattern to them.

Consider using the Almond Colored Appliance Epoxy Bomb Can. I found it to be more durable than conventional spray paint.

It is priced about the same and can be found at Holmes Depot or Lowes.

If it's bare metal, you'll want to apply first. Primer color isn't important, but the Almond will have better coverage over a White primer when compared to a darker colored primers such as Black.

Here is a pic of my interior. I not only used the almond on my column, shifter, turn signal housing, E-brake handle, etc, but I used it to repaint my Petri horn ring as well. The horn ring I just painted and put on about a month ago, the other stuff I painted about 10 years ago.

Hey Soul_VW.. How does your wheel hold up?? How long did you let it try before re-install? Is that expoxy pretty durable on wear and tear of the wheel?? Im leaning towards that stuff pretty good right now.. Looks good brotha..

OOHRAH Devil Dog....

My Steering Wheel has held up really well. I would say that for best results, make sure you prep well. The epoxy takes longer to dry but it is very strong.

I used Almond on my horn button, column, turn signal assembly, grab handle, ebrake, shifter, seat frames, and behind the hubcaps on my wheels. It matched my unrestored steering wheel pretty good and I don't have to have a heart attack if someone scratches/dings it up, just re-do it.

The appliance almond epoxy in a can is good, especially if you don't have access to spray equipment to spray a more durable urethane. Use a good quality white primer for good results. Ray. if you need your steering wheel painted, let me know.

Is the appliance almond also made by rustoleum? Did You spray your steering wheel with the appliance can? I'm also doing my steering wheel.

I used to work for a company that did steering wheel restoration. I now do that on my own. I do all my wheels in urethanes shot out of a spray gun. I have used the appliance epoxy spray paint for small parts but never have done a steering wheel with it. I have had good success with the paint, as it is more durable than the regular krylon or rustoleum paints.

I thought I would just throw out there, that I didnt paint my wheel. Koch restored it for me, and he is actually the one who turned me on to the Krylon Almond. He said it was the best match for the color he uses on his wheels. I have to agree, its a dead match. Cool
