I do a quite a bit of driving for my job and listen to the XM all day long. Mostly I'll listen to the
MLB chanel but do enjoy the Classic Rock chanels. Last week I was listening to Classis Vinyl
and a couple of songs that I like were played. I was thinking that I should add these songs to my
collection and be able to play them whenever I like. Then I got to thinking? You may not
want to be playing these songs in the Westy! Not that I am superstitious, just don't want to jinx
myself.

The songs: Boz Scaggs Breakdown Dead Ahead and The Boss's I'm on Fire.

Any other songs we shouldn't play?

I'd probably avoid; 'Crawling from the Wreckage' by Rockpile. Great song though............

Crash - Dave Matthews - not that any of his music would find its way into my repertoire anyway.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_car_crash_songs

On the flip side - 'Jesus built my hot rod' by Ministry, Reverend Horton Heat's Big Blue Car, Stray Cats' Built for Speed, Johnny Cash - One piece at a time, Nine Ich Nails version of "Cars', etc

In an all too appropriate twist of fate, Brokedown Palace by the Dead was playing the last time I had to call AAA from the side of the road back in 2006. After spending 4 days in the rain and mud at a music festival in NY, I wasn't exactly happy about the conecpt of finishing the last 125 miles of my journey on a flatbed, but making a cup of cocoa on the stove while awaiting rescue made it much more tolerable.

I won't play Free Fallin' by Tom Petty while I'm at Syncro Solstice driving down Hey Joe Canyon. Shocked

For any country music fans out there: The Talkin' Song Repair Blues by Alan Jackson.

I don't think you need to worry. We (banjo, mandolin, guitar & double bass) played 'Dixie Breakdown' in 'Dixie' at the Darrington Bluegrass Festival three years ago with no ill effects. If that didn't have an effect, I don't know what would! Wink

Well, thanks a lot... now I'm going to have to go through the 6000 tracks on my iPod to make sure I don't have any breakdown- or fire-related songs! Laughing

Oh, thought of one I need to remove from the "shuffle" list: Burning Down The House by Talking Heads. Shocked

Hey now! I grew up with country ('70s, early '80s) and with '80s rock/pop! Frankly, there's nothing more fitting than driving your '80s VW with classic '80s tunes (except those listed in this thread, of course) playing! Long live the '80s!! Very Happy

Although that's a great song. Never mind.
