I have a 78 westy that will intermittently run fine for weeks and then for a period of time dies at low or idle speeds. Somtimes when I notice this is happening I'll rev it up to keep from stalling and that works until I have to slow down of course. Then when I try to start it it turns over and over but usually won't start back up until it sits for a while. I have the stock(original engine) set up. Outside air temp doesn't seem to be a factor. My mechanics can't find it and say to wait till it breaks or stays broken but this has been going on for 2 yars. One guy replaced all the fuel injectors and that was a waste of money. Exhaust system also replaced. This bus usually is driven at least 2-3 times per week(when working). Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!! [email protected]

I have found that many intermittent problems like this are electrical shorts caused by bad grounds and bad connections. These are a pain to find, but usually free to fix if you can find them yourself. I certainly wouldn't go throwing parts at it like the mechanic did with the new fuel injectors. I'm not sure where I would start looking, but basic ignition system checks would probably be high on my list. I would also look at the wiring going to and from the double relay to make sure everything is getting a good connection and ground. Again, don't throw any more new parts at the problem unless you or the mechanic are certain about the problem. Good luck.
