Jenny the valves arn't hydraulic, the lifters are. And it's not electronic points, it's an electronic replacement for points. Nice looking buses Wink

Great to see all the ladies steppin up and saying hey Exclamation
However, you should still adjust those valves. instead of the lash for solid lifters, back the adjust screw out, then turn it 1.5 turns past contact. (same say 2 turns, some say .5, go with what sounds and feels best I guess) This isn't about that though...I'll shutup Razz

Well I do appreciate your opinion and the correction of my references to the mechanical workings of my engine but the deed is done and so far I am thoroughly enjoying my new hydraulic flipper flappers and the lack of points. Also enjoying not needing to pull over and adjust my valves every time I decide to driver more then 500 miles. I also enjoy passing a Honda on a long incline, thanks to the new larger crank, crank shaft, cranker, crank-alank-a-make em go fasterer, whatever thingy. In case youre wondering, no I didnt install that myself.

My recent 30th birthday present to myself!

This is Mable. She's a '73 Safare and needs just a bit of TLC. And, yup, I'm doing the majority of it myself...and don't mind the getting dirty part. Grease comes off with soap and calluses scrub off with a pumice stone. I'd rather be able to get myself running again while stuck on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere than have a perfect french manicure. And hey, I'll take a girl who knows her way around an engine over a girl who's afraid of smudging her mascara any day. Gasoline is a way sexier scent than Paris Hitlon's latest perfume. Wink

Got 'er running great! And right now I've got her insides completely stripped out and am redoing the panels and the flooring from scratch. Home sewn curtains next and paint job soon after. Can't wait to take her on her post-makeover debut camping trip!

It's a little alarming that I have to point this out, but you are a woman. If there are more than one of you in a group, then you're women.

But wait- maybe she's got a split personality- so many of them do! Very Happy

Just so ya know, Jenny, having hydraulic lifters does not mean "no more valve adjustments", it just means "different valve adjustments". The idea that hydraulic lifters do not require valve adjustment is a bad old wives tale. Carry on!
