Tore into my CV joints today and found pits. For a strictly road driven thing will bus joints do the trick? I am taking it for granted the THING CV joints are expensive.

I have heard they will bolt up but will not last long. I would get the correct ones even if they are expensive, but the boots are interchangable.

Mike Basso at Thingsunlimited sells used ones. He inspects and cleans them first. I got a rebuilt axle from him and had no problems. I think he gets $30 for one.

Bus CV joints will make a clicking noise when making turns.

Turns don't affect CV joints on the rear. You are thinking about a front wheel drive car. Experience with FWD CVs is meaningless to RWD CVs.
