I'll report back to if he doesn't.
Jeffery, My report can be swayed by some good craft beer. |
Thanks David. You have coached me well Miagi-San
I will likely be the highlight reel
Tom. We surely will have enough beer, and, there will be ample reserves of fine Oregon Wine for all. I am not a big wine drinker but more of a cheap beer drinker, but, for you, whatever it takes
Time to go load the family wagon and begin packing the SyncWest.
But, I am confused....who is this Jeffery you speak of? _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |

OK. Bedtime.
Cleaned, preened, stocked, locked and loaded......the SyncWest. Currently sans cabinetry... Unusual to me.
Is 5 hours too long?
S to the Z in the M O A B.
Off in a few hours. It's stormy.
1022 miles is gonna hurt.
Hold me.

Jeffrey, Have a safe trip. I guess you are bringing cool weather with you which is good for Moab. Just don't bring the wind.
My sister-in-law just left this morning for West Linn. I told them to keep and eye out for you. If you see a grey Ford Focus flash it's lights at you it will probably be them.
See you tonight. |

Great trails today , Bull Canyon, Geminii bridges, swimming at Mill creek.
No carnage. Flogged my ride as did everyone. Vickery 2 tows but he flogs better than the rest of us
John from AZ here. Having a bigass steak in town due to the 35 mph wind at camp. Secret spire tomorrow.
Gonna sleep early tonight, 4am bedtime last night talking with great friends.

Back in SLC. Had a weird rattling sound under hard acceleration and an intermittent sputtering like lack of fuel. Dropped the driveline and made it to meet with HansJ, who works at Utah imports in SLC. He put it up on the lift and we found that I had dented my rear skid plate so under heavy load, it would vibrate my skid plate running forward so it sounded like it was the front right cv, or?
Pulled the skid plate off and reinstalled the driveline and back in business. On the way out of his shop and up the hill to Rich's, the sputtering happened again Hans came right up and we fiddled with a few connections and got up the hill to Rich's. Tomorrow morning, we'll meet Hans again to clean out the motor compartment and use some dialectic grease on the suspect connections, check the fuel filter, fuses, add some fuel additive, and drive around town a bit. Van ran and drove perfectly this trip and I can only suspect the culprit to be dust and dirt from the 60 mph sandstorms we navigated through.
What a great trip. We hit all trails we'd planned for and even got to go swimming. Last night, we had the most awesome wild/stealth camp site with sunken firepit and just a spectacular view.
Some amazing video to come, including extensive vanagon surfing video.
Night. _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |

It's killing me being on the damned edge network. I will start uploading tomorrow night. HansJ is THE MAN! Spent @ 4 hours on his days off from Utah Imports getting me back on the road. Took off my flogged rearmost skid plate that was causing the mysterious rattle, followed me to Rich's last night @11pm, then met me at the shop this morning to troubleshoot the stalling and lack of power. Thanks so much Hans and Utah Imports for the use of your shop after hours. Thanks to Rich and panny for the hospitality. What a great group we had out.
Made it to Ontario, OR @6:30 pm. White knuckle as I was still experiencing intermittent sputtering under load. Worked out the bad tank of gas from Huntington and filled up with super and a butt ass expensive treatment of octane boost and into Boise, I was doing 75 effortlessly(on downhills of course). Off the freeway, still sluggish. Replacing my air filter tomorrow. Think the power steering leak with all the dust, coupled with the shitty gas, was my power zap. Now, to find a. Anagon airfter in Ontario in the AM. Keep em coming.
Previewing Jabbah~D's epic photos now. These are sure to be some of the best vanagon event photos EVER! I'm serious!!!
Keep em coming folks! _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |

Great footage Johnny, especially of my white 2WD and Dave Vickery's blue 2WD hanging with the Syncros. There was some serious sand and we made it look pretty easy with our aired down tires. I learned so much from Dave. Never thought I would be doing those things in my 2WD. |
