Here is the blog about it. Using Gersons bumpers, etc.
According to the article, these converted buses were used in the 50's and 60's to drive around Germany to promote financing for home ownership.

Did you notice the pic everett posted has the same number plate as the pic you posted? So I assume its the exact same bus? Wow ! And semaphores to boot. Looks like they just cut down a bus to make this rather than use a single cab. Interesting taillights and louvers. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

It's my understanding that they used the old photo to recreate the bus. There are lots of small differences if you look closely. The diorama is not the same in each bus although similar. I think they just made the plate to match the old one. |

The TLs look like early ghia to me... and, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think semaphores were normally much higher (above beltline) than on this bus. |

I don't think they are Ghia TL's on the original bus. I think the reporduction bus has slightly different lights from the original. The original bus looks like generic Hella with three bulges on the lens, like on the top driver training model in this photo:

very cool bus but that "rear view" window looks about the size of a tissue box. backing that up would not be fun ditto too for keeping an eye of tailgaters or rubber-necker's chekcing out the diorama |

the article says this was a 5 week project to build the copy of the old cars,
does look like a SC though in the other pics. _________________ regards

I think single cabs had semaphores below the beltline, which would indicate this originally was an SC. |

Yes, singles had them below the beltline. But then why doesnt it have single cab louvers?, or the correct taillights regardless of if it was a bus or a single cab. Any pics of a treasure chest? Those rear corners look too rounded for a pickup. Is it just me or is that engine lid really large? _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

Totally, plus, there should be a scale single cab with a scale neighborhood with another mini scale bus with another mini-mini scale to infinity. |

Those corners are way too round for a single.
That had to have been a bus before it was modified:
