Agreed. SC roof curves down at the rear. Roof on that bus does not. |

I'm not so sure, there's no roads, just foot paths, if I can't park infront of the house I'm moving!
But I could park 2 tiny Beetle projects beside that house and 6-8 busses in the back yard, no tiny neighbors behind me to complain either _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

very cool bus but that "rear view" window looks about the size of a tissue box. backing that up would not be fun ditto too for keeping an eye of tailgaters or rubber-necker's chekcing out the diorama |

Here is the blog about it. Using Gersons bumpers, etc.
According to the article, these converted buses were used in the 50's and 60's to drive around Germany to promote financing for home ownership.

Did you notice the pic everett posted has the same number plate as the pic you posted? So I assume its the exact same bus? Wow ! And semaphores to boot. Looks like they just cut down a bus to make this rather than use a single cab. Interesting taillights and louvers. |
It has the the same number plates as the original car. Unfortunately this does not mean that its still exact the same bus. And there is no stamp on the plate, so its not licensed with this plate.
Actually we do have other style plates in Germany , the Euro Style ones, with the blue bar on the side. If this bus would have been licensed all the time, the old plates could still be in use, but not if it was licensed now.
Just read the blog. They say the car was rebuilt, and it will be displayed in the foyer of the bank from 27th of June on. In the 50s these busses were called snow white casket. The guy who rebuilt this bus only had one old photography as a guideline.
Its a really nice bus. Hope I can see it once in real. Schwäbisch Hall is a town, about 50km away from Stuttgart. And the "Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall" (Bausparkasse=home loan bank) still exists and is well known here. |

I would say that it is originally a pritsen and I would explain the rounded rear corners for the reason that it is much harder to bend hard corner on a large piece of class/plastic that it is to modify the corners to fit. _________________ -58 Typ2 ambulance

No trees to fall on your house either Manny!! I could see your cats running around there and NYHC spray painted on the side of the house!! _________________ 62 Standard Type 2 (Nothing Fancy)

Yes. Truck b-pillar, truck belly door, gas filler in truck location, etc. I would thinking swapping out the corners would be easier than changing all of this. |

Update on the Bausparkasse transporters !
The time the reconstructions were done, they had only 2 pictures available how the original bus looked like - what a great job !
Now they have found a wreck of an original one, which was buried in a forest 55 years before ! What an incredible found !
https://www.bavarian-pickers.com/galerie/schwa-bisch-hall-schneewittchen-wagen/
https://www.eurotransport.de/bilder/der-schneewitt...27744.html
The two reconstructed transporters are promotional vehicle of our local building society (= Bausparkasse) here in Schwäbisch Hall in the South of Germany.
Now they could be compared to one of the originals ! |

Although I'm not a Schwabndeifi, these two examples from Schwäbisch Hall really underline the Swabian work-ethic motto "schafe, schafe Häusle baue," which means "work, work, build a house."
I find it really cool to see how the regional culture is slapped on and in a VW. Through in a hot mama, and it's the perfect package. Not sure how I feel, though, about those curved rear corners...on the trucks, not the hot mamas haha. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz
