The wipers on my bus do not work. What should I check before I go poking around? |

The forum posting do's and dont's sticky, I'm sure it says someting about including information about your bus like year and model in your posts _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
Please don't PM technical questions, ask your problem in public so everyone can play along. If you think it's too stupid post it here

First, what do you mean by don't work? Does nothing happen when you move the switch or do the arms just don't move?
Figuring on it being on the first one, have you checked the fuses? Not only making sure they aren't blown but cleaning the contacts as well? Did they ever work for you? |

Nothing happens when I move the switch. I have changed the fuses and that has not done anything to the wipers but it did fix a couple of other things. I can try cleaning the contacts, and no they have not worked for me. |

Check the connections on the wiper motor (not fun to get at, I know), clean them up with some emery cloth. Get some new spade connectors and replace the ones on the wires. They do degrade over time and you are looking at a 30+ year old vehicle. Where you are having issues with several electrical items, I'm leaning towards corrosion on the fuse panel, old ends, a hacked wiring harness or all of the above. |
