Porsche 356 Steering Wheel Options

i have a 58 356 and would like to go to a smaller dia. steering wheel. custom VW or? how do i go about fitting a custom wheel to my 356? will VW wheel adapters fit the 356? i guess what i'm after is can i buy a VW custom wheel and have it fit my 356 ? are the splines and shaft size the same?

What size steering wheel do you currently have? I went from 420mm to 400mm (both proper VDM steering wheels for Porsche.) I like the 400 mm much better. My '56 bug had a Petri banjo style that the seller kept and reinstalled the original VW wheel. Petri fits both VW and Porsche of that vintage. But I am not up on the diameter sizes of Petri steering wheels, if they are available in less than 400mm. But the shafts should fit.
