|
|
Pulled my battery, in the process of detailing the engine compartment now, and found out that her battery is a 1996 Group 41 Diehard! that is starting to seep, so will do battery tray wih POR 15...but cannot find an update for the Optima Model 35R...not listed on their website, and Batteries Plus says no current application...and Sears says What? Want a drycell, as live here in AZ...anybody have a cross reference? PS...Odyssey is $286...out of my range of reality..... _________________ 1963 Convertible (Lizzie) and 1964 Convertible (Patience) 1976 Westfalia (Winnie) |

You want a 34R Optima. I've got one in each of my buses plus a blue top in the Westy. (I work for Johnson Controls ) _________________ Dirk

Dirk, Thank you! Were you able to use the top posts, or have to use side posts, and does the factory "clamp" work with the battery, or did you have to make a "modified" clamp for hold down? Bob _________________ 1963 Convertible (Lizzie) and 1964 Convertible (Patience) 1976 Westfalia (Winnie) |

The top posts work just fine. I used the Optima plastic hold down with some filing to change angle of the bolt to meet the stock bolt hole on the battery tray. _________________ Dirk

Thanks...picked up the battery this afternoon..my local Batteries Plus store had (1)...and was the only store around that had it....had them test my old 1996 Die Hard for grins, and it failed......finished grinding, sanding, and laid down the POR 15 in the battery tray today. Thanks again for your advice...will do the mod hopefully next weekend on the hold down..
