Nothing much... gonna, drive it... and enjoy watching others smile as I go by!
keeping it 6v
Tomorrow a full tune up...
switch out the reg. 6v battery to an Optima I had bought for the '66
I found some old pics in the paperwork of the resto from '88-'89, confirmed that it had at one time, the Brown Cord interior, so I am gonna inspect around the '80's fabric and see if its hiding under it. If not, I will see whats available. ( if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. )
I would like to get the window seals back with the chrome, but in no rush.
Gonna post some on the key switch. I guess I can post a pic of the so called key. Door key is fine, unlocks door, but that key switch has gotta go. _________________ ROBERT

Nice car, NCdad! I tell you what, nothing against those with narrowed beams, lowered front & rears, aftermarket wheels, etc, (heck, I was young once too!) but it's refreshing to see a bug at stock height. It seems like 75-80% of the bugs you see built or that come up for sale in TS classifieds are dropped as low as possible! Yours (and mine eventually) are dying breeds.... Congrats on a nice find! _________________ .

yeah about the only other thing that sticks out in my eyes is the wrong window rubber(should have the trim) but thats a minor detail. get a good set of that when you get the pop out windows it needs .
that rag top clip in sc for $300 grafted in would be nice to . i've kinda been wanting a bug again lately and this is probably gonna increase that want...ken.... _________________ ITMC

Alright, got to jump in today, and started off by adjusting the Valves. #3 was tight, the rest were real close. new gaskets and closed them up.
The rain was a pain at times though.
Cleaned out the front compartment, have to go through the basket as I threw the stuff in it quick, may be some goodies that were hidden.
PO was using oil from Kangaroo Mart.
Called around looking for some Brad Penn 15w-40 but a shop close by only had 20w-50.
gonna check around tomorrow
Went over to get schooled on how to do the Timing and Dwell right, I can't thank MXracer enough. ( hope you don't get Bug Fever, bro! )
Idle was at 1200+ and way out of time, we got it down to 800 and Gen Lite comes on... messed with the accelerator cable too.
Idle ended up at 920-950 rpm...
Dwell read 48.5
gonna come back and clean up connectors, may look at voltage regulator to see if that is causing the gen lite to barely come on when Idle is 800-900
Switched out the old 6v battery out for a New Optima 6v that I had picked up for the '66.
was shown how to adjust the clutch up, had to much play in it ( think it was at 50mm, now at 20mm.)
we drove it down the road to test it out,
so much better!
Thanks again Dan! _________________ ROBERT

wish I had the old door panels and seat covers.
Found this tonight in the stuff I cleaned out of the trunk area.
Looks like the original tool kit. ( Missing Screwdrivers? )
