|
|
hello, i have a 1971 ghia coup that i am restoring. my dad bought this back in the early 90s but never did anything with it because of other projects so he gave it to me. i am 17 years old and a sophomore in high school. i have done most of everything by myself with the help of my dad occasionally. i started in may of 2011. here is what i have done: both heater channels, rockers, lower 1/4s, left headlight section, left floor support, left fresh air vent, both pan halves, under nose section, center and left engine compartment, left rear corner, and i have started bondo and primer.
(sorry for the blurry and small pics) _________________ 71 ghia coupe: Build thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=511738&highlight=

looking good
i have a 71 coupe that i've owned since i was 14 years old.
i certainly didn't need to put the amount of work into it that you have, but i do remember how much cool factor that car had (and still has) when i was a youngster.
keep the pics coming _________________ 88 Van WBX, A/T - 13 JSW TDI 6M/T - 2012 Touareg TDI Sport |

I'm kinda jealous that it seams you have surpassed me bodywise. Then again I assume since your 17 you live at home. I'm 31 and my car is at my parents 30 miles away and I work 10 hour days so I only get to work 2 days a week. All my bodywork is done for the most part. Just need to sandblast the interior, going to POR-15 most of the interior panels since I am covering most of the panels with sound deadening material.
But great progress, I wish I had a sweet ghia when I was 17-18 trust me it is a hit with the ladies. My 70 rust bucket when I bought it was a hit with the college girls, so a smooth one would of been too much to handle. |
