Tamiya re-released the Sand Rover from back in 1980 I think.
I can't be the only one who's found it...anyway, might belong in the Toys forum, but you guys don't care in here.
$100 for the kit if you can still get it. It comes in white plastic, and you finish it yourself. With a couple tricks they can hit 25mph....mixed blessing, super FUN to drive like the real thing, but they definitely take some damage.
I need to finish the blue one, I'm trying to find a proper size helmet-head for the driver, and I have some new wheels for it...

I got them off amazon for about $105 shipped, you'll still need a controller and a battery/ charger. _________________

So you mean like this - a Street Rover, the latest version using wider rims and tarmac tires. Should be fun to ride.

The road tires might actually be a bit better-- but from what I can tell that's the only difference, since they all come in white/ painted plastic.
I don't think the track could be any wider; I actually NARROWED the front suspension on my blue one! _________________

Yeah-- I did. I actually used the roll-bar parts from both kits to build the cage on the Orange buggy. I was left with nothing for the blue one-- and Tamiya has been sold out of the roll bar parts?- so I just bent some steel rod to make the cage for the Blue one. Not finished yet, just like the real thing, there's always somethign to fix.
If you're wondering about scale, they're about a foot long 1/10 scale. I know nothing about R/C cars, but this was a pretty easy kit. A bigger battery and motor seriously makes them move.
Carfeful--- very addictive. _________________

Steet Rover looks "more real" than the Sand Rover with those wide street tires. _________________ AZSpeedBuggy
