I have recently started a restoration on a 1967 Porsche 912. I haven't got a clue where to buy parts. I need a front windshield and all the seals (door, window, hood and decklid, etc.). Also, the owner wants to convert the 12 volt generator to an alternator. Where can I find the things? |

I buy from this place from time to time and have always had
good quality.

You do know where Atlanta,Georgia is.
Try to talk the owner into leaving the Stock generator too. _________________ V.W.owner since 1967 |

if you want to convert to alternator you will have to find a 68, 69 912 gen stand and use alt from 75 to 79 vw bug! _________________ 87 wolfsberg,74 181w/1915 and lots of patina! learned to fix vw's from hot vw mag in 1964,VWOA instructor,DSM,69 to73,service mgr at different porsche-audi dealers etc, etc, now retired!!! first vw new 64,transplanted 356 eng in 65,400characters are not enough space!! |

Not sure about the windshield, but I've bought most of my weatherstrip/rubber from pelicanpart.com. Also Stoddard and sierramadrecollection.com. _________________ 63 Sedan

I restored a 69 912 about 10 years ago and went through Stoddard and pelican parts. Between the two they had everything I needed. |

Most autoglass shops can get a windshield. I think most are now made by PPG. They can pop off the rear view mirror mount. |

That combination will not work. _________________ Jack Staggs

To Jack:
Back in the day there were ads for a modified Gen/Alt stand advertised
in Porsche Pano mag. Went for a reasonable sum at that time. Was not very successfull at that time, because owners did not want to alter the car that much. I tried machining a later 912 stand to adapt the alt but it was weak and subject to faillure. Just a passing note.

I think those were offered by Scott's in Anaheim, Ca. They worked well. Later efforts have been done by Emory Motorsports (sp?), John Benton, as well as the previous link. A flip top filler stand would be the easiest to mod, but it takes extreme measures. _________________ Jack Staggs

The alternator conversion is not going to be so easy because it takes quite a collection of specific parts to make it happen, and a custom machined alternator stand. Gary Emory was the most recent supplier of kits. You might try John Benton and CSP (Classic and Speed Parts) to see if they have any available.
The rubber parts are available from Stoddard (OEM) and International Mercantile. OEM rubber parts are highly recommended.
Auto Atlanta is rather well known as a schlock outfit. No offense.
EASY in Emoryville is your go-to source for used parts.
