|
|
I'm in Georgia, so, at some point we will most likely put an RV AC unit on the roof of the 72 westy. Why? Because I was born a New Englander and want to watch the sox in july sipping a large black dunkins coffee in a 65 degree bus. Any opinions on roughly how many btu's we might need to cool the bus? I don't imagine that it's too many compared to what is on the market for RV units, but was curious if anyone has any experience. _________________ KK4NTP

My bus caught on fire and is now on the other coast with someone who gave me money for it. |

We had a 5k btu window unit fitted to the driver window for when we camped in Florida and it was not enough for those super hot sunny humid days in July/August. At night it worked well to make sleeping comfy. If I were to do it again I would try 8k btu if I expected a cool bus during the heat of the day. |

I should mention that when I say it was fitted I mean it had a homemade plywood surround so it was sealed fully around the edges. I had come up with this after seeing someone on the samba with a similar (and much better executed) setup but before I had seen the canvas ac adapter. pictured above.
Like I said though 5k btu was not enough in the sun even if we closed the top to cut down on the sunload and the area needing cooling. |
