A friend has a 1984 Westy Camper that he wants to get re-sprayed.. The color looks like a Orange'ish / Pumpkin.. But when we check the code this is what comes up..
Is this correct.. This color looks Brown and not the Orange'ish color on his Vanagon.. This calls the color....
Assuan Brown (LH8B)

Paint Code under Dash = LH8B But the Vans Color looks More Orange than Brown?
Whats-Up with the Brown, if the Van Looks Orange Question

That sounds right - Assuan Brown is a sort of rusty dark orange color:

even dough that's one of my least favorite colors on the westys, a good buff would do wonders on that paint

The use of the silver gray on the orange van is very creative, and successful. Good vision on the part of the owner.

as the self proclaimed resident color expert( the last time i posted that statement andrew libby and zeitgeist both lost their minds over it) that color is a 'brown' (which is a quaternary/tertiary color) which is of course either red and black and yellow, or just red and green with pigments. the assuan brown is named after the famous egyptian city of aswan which in german is spelled 'assuan'. the point is that the color is dominant in its balance of red therefore it is closer to an orange than any other color. obviously paint is not light fast and so the ultraviolet light breaks down the pigment to reveal its dominant color which in your friends case is an orange (yellowish/red) i like that color ,even though i generally dont like browns.

Outcast, I'm pretty sure that I'm not the one who lost their mind. I recall the thread you are referring to and also recall that Zeitgeist didn't lose his mind either. Maybe you're projecting?
