Is it normal for the coil to very hot? I noticed that it gets very hot even after a short run.

hi i'm searching for the same answer, figure anything oiut? I have a 78 bay 2.0 single carb and the coil gets right hat. I've got a new avp engine put in her a few weeks back which ran great at first and now all of a sudden it seems to run out of power once im on the road, It can idle fine. let me know if you've found the answer to your problem. peace

Well I can tell you that the round coils are filled with oil to dissipate the heat!
So yes they can get hot

High voltage contained inside a small round can with oil inside? Its going to get hot. If a coil isn't getting hot it isn't working.
