I currently have weitec lowering springs on my 91 westy with koni shocks, which is a little too low unfortunately.

i want a lower ride height and don't want to go back to the stock springs, which ride too high for cornering in my opinion - so options:

1) carat springs - hard to find and of dubious age and quality.
2) springs from avo UK - should i go with the 30, 50 or 70 mm?
3) moog springs? there's a little said about them on the forum, but they seem like a dark horse?

if you have pics of a westy with any of the above springs installed please post up, i need to make the right decision this time.

There's a set of Carat springs for sale in Mission or Maple Ridge on Vancouver C/L right now... Wink

The AVO 30mm are an aftermarket replica Carat spring. As far as I'm concerned, anything lower is for specialised use, not your daily driver. IMHO, YMMV

plenty of people corner fine with stock springs, maybe your van needs some other details fixed, not springs

how are your ball joints, tie rod ends, alignment, steering rack bushings, and are your tires rated for vanagon?

imo, shocks, tire inflation, and tire sidewall strength have a bigger impact on body roll than springs.

Consider an Addco front sway bar for improved cornering. I felt it helped a LOT. (The general thought here is that a rear sway bar is not really needed unless you drive in a very spirited manner.)

Try a Samba-search on < addco 719 >

Much has been written here on this topic.

I have a 25mm model #719 Addco front sway bar and am very happy with it. I paid $190 for the sway bar from shox.com, and $20 for two 19mm bushings from VanCafe.

anti-swaybar fine, but i'm not going back up to stock spring height.. it's just too jacked up for my liking.

Don't underestimate how well a stock height or lifted rig with a tuned suspension will handle.

Ground clearance is your friend. Very Happy

Since no one cares that you specifically state you don't want rhe stock ride height, try the search for belltec speings. They make a lowering spring for s10's that fit the front but are stiffer. I dont lnow of any rear oprions.

I'm hoping to find some air-springs to replace the coil springs in the rear. That way I can raise/lower the rear to level the bus at a campsite or compensate for additional load.

btw I did some measurements on the ride height:

Front: 13.5"
Rear: 14.5"

Seems a little excessive for a 45mm drop spring..
