Hey all, I am in the beginning stages of organizing yet another all-Split bus cruise and this time incorporating it with a camp out this Spring. There is a good chance that we can get camping space at a private camp ground near Julian, but I have to check specific dates, though the weekend of April 28/29 has been mentioned.

The plan is to head up Friday and camp that night. Head out early Sat. morning down the mountain to the desert and cruise around then head back up into the mountains and woods. We would then camp/eat/drink Saturday night and head back to reality Sunday. Looking to see what sort of interest there is in that weekend and the idea of camping.

Dan I still have to Czech my schedule but as far as I know, I'm clear for that weekend. This is an awesome idea and could turn out to be THE San Diego premiere spring event. I'll keep you posted.

I guess I better wrap up the bay beam conversion and get the camper up and rolling. Sounds like fun.

DAN, I'm pushing to get my DD back on the ground and runnning. That is 7 weekends away. If I don't have it running by then, then bury me alive!

However, I have a soccer game to coach that weekend. Not a good weekend. If you push it back, then the chance of me buried alive is less and I can go!

Would be camping first trip in DD!

Jay

If the Big 3 can't make it, then I HAVE to change the date. I don't want a certain Famous Fashion Wear Designer getting upset with me. It was bad enough when I pissed off Karl Lagerfeld at the Paris Review 2002. Anyway, Maurice let me know.

Jay, stop talking and typing and get that DD on the road. Bring the kids camping, camping and cruising is better than soccer, or even football or Foosball if you prefer.

Dan myself and Cy are in, I haven't heard back from Earl or Ron yet but I'm almost sure they're good to go. Serg sent me some pictures from the place in Julian and it looks legit. 10ft Doug said he was interested so we might have a BD on the trails with us...good times here we come!

I'd make the trek down there again...

Let me make sure it doesn't crash into any other events going on that weekend. I try not to plan that far out...its just disappointing when something inevitably comes up.

Bring your camping gear because it is on. Sergio has lined up the place, which is near Julian. The best part is that the price is right: FREE. We can camp for no charge. So, the plan is to meet up at the campground Friday, hit the road Saturday morning after breakfast, head back to the campground mid afternoon leaving people to cruise over to Julian if they wish. party and camp Sat. night, head back Sunday.

This is a total BYOEverything, no trophies, no ballots, no ballot stuffing, no one in charge, no obligations, just show up if you want, do want you want within reason and within the law, be cool and hang out with other split bus folk.

More details to come about the campsite and the cruise route.

When this all turns out, and the weekend is done, I'm sure plenty of folks will want to come to this...
From what I've seen of the pictures it's going to be off the hook!

Is it going to take place on the weekend of the 28-29 of April still? The Bug In in Fontana is that same weekend.

Bug-in is on Sunday. You can leave Julian early and still have all day in Fontana

Earl, I haven't come up with a route yet, but I will try to keep it all paved or with handicap ramps for the lowered guys. I still think it is epic that you made it up the road from hell to the top of Palomar! Memories!
I know Maurice has been looking so I will coordinate with him so he can keep me in line. When you roll 640s you have a different perspective of what is doable.
EDIT: Forgot Maurice is rolling with the big boys too now.

This excursion will have little to NO paved roads. This is a trail bash weekend, not a city cruise!! Earl your just gonna have to jump in with your roomie Cy.

Shocked

Well, as long as what happens in the bus stays in the bus...
I'll try to get started in the route this week and post it up. Ideally I want to find something that allows us all to cruise together and then the stockies can take the road less traveled while the lowered guys, like Bill May Shocked can take the road more paved and we can link u for El Cruise Grande back to camp.

Dan cancel Christmas - it looks like I might be out. I hit a deer and my bus is jacked up. Front end damage, broken headlight, etc. I'm going to check my insurance policy tomorrow but I'm not sure if I'm covered for hitting Bambi's dad. I'm so bummed.

Btw, anyone in SD have a head light lens they're willing to part with? Or how about a bullet nose skin for that matter.... AAARRRGGHHHH
