I am an aircooled guy, so cut me some slack here.
My brother-in-law ("BIL") just inherited (from his son in the Navy) the son's 2004 TDI Jetta. Auto gearbox. BIL thinks it needs a transmission filter change, but I don't know why he thinks that. BIL thinks he needs to remove the transmission to change the filter.
BIL is a Chrysler guy and knows nothing about VWs. I know little about water cooled ones. He has some history with Sprinter vans though and is a decent wrench.
I sent BIL the Bentley manuals for the TDI. I am wondering if I should also send him a set of "triplesquare" sockets if they would be useful in doing whatever he needs to do with this thing.
Quick thoughts? |
