So I have a 1972 Fastback
4 lug 4x130 bolt pattern
Where can I find a good selection of 17x7 wheels?
Can’t find much out there.
I find a bunch of stock sizes (15) options
I wanted to get something meatier.
I was told 17x8 won’t work. So I thought I would step down a little.
I don’t want to drill for a new 5 bolt pattern |

4x130 is not a popular pattern, so you're options will be limited. _________________ Glenn

What are my options.
Leaning about the VW world
I want to put some 17x7. I talked to a few same year fast back owners and they had success with no rubbing. and utilizing a spacer in back.
I don’t want to put a 4 to 5 lug adapter cause it is about 1 inch thing and will prevent me front wider rims on.
I have the factory disk in front. And drum in back
What the best approach |

Change your bolt pattern. Modify the rims you have. Those are your options. Even when VW 4 lugs were popular, shit was limited. Coolest thing out there was when VW got with Porsche and did the 914. Porsche 2.0 liter rims. _________________

This guy ships fast, and the wheels are nice. I didn't fit them to a type 3, but 7" is wide in the front of a bug. |

He has some other offerings. "salt flat" type wheels and Cookie Cutters in 4lug 17inch. Good dude for sure, I'd buy from him before jbugs or cip1 _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

I would certainly buy from him again. My bug looks sexy as fuck with her fancy shoes. |

My only statement on it is; If you want to run a certain rim, go for it. Keep in mind you have to watch the back spacing and ET numbers. For a t-3 you're looking at an ET of +40 stock, and no less than +25. You can re-drill the front discs and rear drums and hubs to a 4-100 bolt pattern. John J did that on Sophy (his 66 Squareback). He's running 15's up front, and 16's in the rear on a 5 spoke rim that looks similar to a torque thrust rim (his are chrome platted), but has the Honda bolt pattern. Just a thought.
On my 92 Corolla, I'm running some 15x6.5 w/a +38 ET 7 spoke rims (up from stock 13's), and have a 10mm hub centric spacer to push them out to clear the strut/spring combo in the rear. Up front they fit just fine, and don't need a spacer. These are just an example of what you have to do to run the rims you want on your car. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
