I’m new to the VW scene. I have a 72 Fastback

And I came across these rims

A set of 4 15x7Rota RB 4x100 rims with a center bore size of 57.1 and an off set of 13

Brand new in box

I have stock old tires and plain rims on my fasty.
I’m Looking to lower the car and I was wondering if any of you kind experts could tell me if this would work?

Side bar question.

The current tires the car came with is 165/80/R15
Seems to be rubbing the insides when I turn to extremes. Is this not the correct size for the model?

You could probably make these work, but you'd need to have your front rotors re-drilled to the 4-100 pattern, along with having the rear drums and hubs re-drilled as well. Then you'll need to check the back space (offset) to see what clears, and what doesn't. Then you'll have to decide how much you want to drop it.
I only say those things, as when lowering things change, and fender clearance gets tight.
The next thing is are those rims +13, or -13 offset? It does make a difference.

Thanks for the info.

I know I can lower the rear by reindexing the pivot point …

But how is lowering accomplished in the front. Or do I have to buy lowering spindles.

I would like to use 17x8 rims all around.

I doubt 17x8 will ever fit any Typed 3, stock or modified, if you want fenders on it.

Re-indexing of the lower torsion arm up front is how you lower that end. This can be accomplished by pulling the lower torsion arm off the torsion bar (outer drop) or by re-indexing the opposite end of the torsion bar inside the beam (inner drop). the difference between the 2 drops is about a half inch.
I don't know if 17x8 rims can be used on our cars (might be too wide), but someone on here has run 17's on a lowered type 3 before.

I mentioned 17x8 cause I read an article (can’t find it now of course)that used 17x8 all around. Said he tugged at the fenders a little and didn’t have any issues.

What would be the meatiest tire/rim that would fit with out issues? So I can start looking. I would like to lower the car to fill up the wheel to fender gap

I think you are dreaming about lowering a type 3 on 17X8 ET13 wheels?
I've seen 17x7 on type 3, but they had a flat face not deep dished with a higher ET number I think.
Show us a picture of the wheels you want.

Look thru the tire and wheel thread in this forum. You'll find out what fits, and what doesn't. Also, you might find out what rim widths others are using, along with their offsets. You might have to do a search to find it (it's over 100 pages long).

The fasty you show has a flat faced wheel, while your pic is a deep dished wheel.
You have to use a flat face 17x8 to get it on a type 3.
Below is 100+ pages of different wheel/tire/stance combinations that Bobnotch is talking about.
17x7 Porsche Twists will fit because they are flat faced!
Don't waste your money on wheels that won't let you Lower your ride!

I spent a lot of time measuring, and swapping spacers to get the most rubber under mine and still have turning radius with a 17x7 wheel

17x7.5 Rota are about your only choice in 4x130?
They are pretty flat faced and are shown fitting on a fastback.
Your turning radius won't be that good, but if you have to have 17" wheels buy them.
