From the gallery. I've seen this car at Kelley Park and Sacramento BOR.

There was a red bug on the front of VW Trends years ago with the spokes in red and the lug area in black, that looked ok. Jim Hagethorn, friend of Muffler Mike if i remember right. The red chop top with original BRMs painted red just looked a bit weird. There was a 356 in the UK a while back with the spokes in silver, again looked good. The second Underdog race car had blue metallic wheels with the raised ribs polished. The only other one i can think of was a DRF car from the 70s, Mark Hunsaker i think, which had very dark brown wheels that contrasted well with the lighter brown paint. _________________ '67/'68 Cal Look Beetle, 2007cc, 48IDFs, 14.4 @ 93mph, Oct 2017.

my friends type 34 with chrome brm's with painted lug nut area. Its funny, at the showes people will ask what kind of wheels they are even when parked next to a car with stock brm's. They get attention.

In my personal opinion they just dont look good any other color than black. I dont care for the grey or chrome ones available now either. Same goes for sprint stars, fuchs, and sometimes gas burners (though sometimes those look good grey or polished) but all those wheels just look perfect black with chrome or polished to contrast and they go with any color car. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

I just surfed the BRM fest thread. None painted (except one red car). Anyone painted or powdercoated their wheels? Looking for color ideas. Thanks for any help. |
