Find the VIN number and that is PROBABLY the correct year. PROBABLY because how many of us can afford two donor cars when building a buggy? Not a guarantee, but should work for you.

IT will either be a King & Link or Ball joint.... If its King and Link it will 66 and earlier I believe, Ball Joint first appeared in 67 if I am not mistaken...

Aluminum beam is aftermarket so that is really not a clue....

IF back side of spindles look like this, its a K&L

If you have a link pin front end, the passenger side bump stop horn as a code stamped in it. I couldn't tell ya how to crack it, but maybe someone else does. Anyways...this is what it looks like.

Maybe your goal would be important for people trying to answer the question.

Are you ordering tie rods, ball joints, a whole beam, etc?

If the shock mounts are almost straight up and down, its a "king and linkpin" that ran up to 66 or something.

If they bow out a little like gremlin ears, its a balljoint front end.

If your tie rods fit a 17mm wrench on the adjuster they're a 68 type style tie rod.

If you're buying ball joints, you probably have a balljoint front end.

Wheel bearings relate to the spindle. I have 5 lug fronts on a ball joint beam wit the 68 style tie rods.

Bushings and bearings are probably specific to either balljoint or linkpin.

If it has an aluminum beam, it's an aftermarket part. I don't know that I have ever seen an aluminum ball joint beam, so my guess is that it would be a link pin beam. And seeing that it's an aftermarket part, it would be nearly impossible to tell the "year".

If the shock towers are straight up, it's king/link pin. And if curved, ball joint. First ball joiint was '66(5 lug) as well as the '67. 4 lug was in '68.
