A few Faux-bras were made... never looked quite right to me. Someone sold one on Ebay a few years back. _________________ I never found the need to impress people with any mechanic certifications, trophies or track wins... unless it was for Mom to post on the refrigerator door. |

FiberJet in Roseville, CA did make a Cobra body for a VW pan.
I don't know how many Tim sold.
After Tim passed away, molds and bodies were sold.
From what I heard what did not sell went to the dump. _________________ Joseph

Ok so I am gathering that they are rare does that make them valuable or are they like a Yugo didn't go over and not worth squat? I like the Kellison GT but if I could find a cobra that might be a cool car too. I wonder if someone were to make a more authentic looking body today that they would go over? I remember in the 90's you could get a nice kit to build a Cobra for 6 to $8000 now they are a lot more. this could possibly be an expansion project for the new owners of Berrien Buggy. _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=516085

While not a type 1 and not a cobra. This looks kind of sharp and is not that hard to pull off.
Hard top cobra

Nothing has a value greater than the dollar amount that the highest bidder will offer you.
Point is, I wouldn't spend my time seeking one out with the intention of holding onto it as an investment. You'll be disappointed. _________________ I never found the need to impress people with any mechanic certifications, trophies or track wins... unless it was for Mom to post on the refrigerator door. |

Not much info on it but I believe it has an 8 cyl up front and tubbed rear end. _________________ Licensed Automotive Service Technician

Probably a good idea to leave a light on in the garage when the Ghia & Cobra are parked... darkness leads to strange bedfellows... _________________ I never found the need to impress people with any mechanic certifications, trophies or track wins... unless it was for Mom to post on the refrigerator door. |

I posted several photos of VW based Cobras in the Kit Car Gallery. Both 289 slab side and the 427 style with wider fenders. |

Probably 25 years ago at the Bug Out in Manassas I saw a very nice 427 Cobra look-alike that was made by modifying a Ghia convertible body. Still had all of the VW running gear. I talked to the guy for a while about it. Wonder what ever happened to it. I took a few pictures but have no idea where they are now. _________________ "Just $99 down and $64 a month for 36 months buys you a brand new Volkswagen Beetle!"
