Early 60's OB San Diego. You could park right on the beach where the river dumped into the sea.
Balsa board getting unloaded.

The area is now know as Dog Beach, but was open to cars at least until 1985, when I moved inland. I spent many hours of fun down there growing up. Every high tide some unsuspecting tourist had to get their car towed out.
This was taken in 1982.

Found this photograph of a 66 or 67 Riviera March 2005 in a bus that had been sitting since 75 or 80. It was not the bus in the picture.

Hold on to your shorts for this one. I got this amazing photo from a friend. Her parents traveled across Europe in 1957 and this euro PG/SG sunroof Standard was their ride. Can't get over the clarity of this nearly 60-year-old pic. Mind = blown.

Here are the rest. These were taken from slides discovered in the garage, therefore the quality.

No, I have super-high res ones - these were the largest I could put in the gallery. It's like they were taken yesterday. |

That picture might just be the new hall of famer. It even trumps the famous "Gute Fahrt junior euro bus" picture. |

Great reference picture for fluted 57 euro headlights. 2 and 5 o'clock adjustment screws. |

Fat arm wipers... wasn't expecting to see those. Maybe an optical illusion? Click pic to enlarge... wait for it to open... click again to enlarge a little more.

Crazy cool pics! That is a lot of people for one bus, the sleeping arrangement looks kinda rough. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. CB 044 heads, AutoCraft rockers, chromoly push rods

OK, after those amazingly clear and sharp photos, mine look pretty ordinary....
One of my photos is my avatar. These were taken circa 1965/66. They are the only photos I have of my Dad's splitty. The one with my older brother jumping off the roof and me standing, is taken in the car park of Sydney's Taronga Park Zoo overlooking Sydney Harbour.
The other photo was taken in the back lane of my Father's house in Sydney (my parents were divorced long before...) and includes one of my sister's and the pretty dark haired woman was my Dad's girlfriend.
I'm not sure of the exact model year (can't see enough clues from the photos) but I think maybe 61 or 62. Aussie buses had semaphores until 59; nipple blinkers introduced 1960, fried egg 1964.....
This is an Aussie bus fully manufactured (not CKD) at the VW Australasia plant. Local production stopped in 1968 and the factory reverted to assembling CKD's. Nissan bought the VW plant in 1976 and all VW's were fully imported from Germany to this day.

It sort of looks like that to me too but I am going to guess it's an optical illusion _________________ How to Post Photos
