It was a geographic excursion to the Alps. The bus belonged to the University of Kiel, Geographic department.

That looks like one of those buses that saw alot of action, went everywhere and did it all, especially if the trailer goes along with it, some serious adventure there!

Or a long freshly oiled road, they did things like that back then (worked great, not so "environmentally friendly" these days). No rust on the bottom of that bus.
