Does anyone know this location? Is it in Germany?

I thought the bus next to the deluxe was an Auwärter Carlux but it doesn't appear to be, I forgot the name.

I really hope that's advertising material. Otherwise, some parent had a seriously weird idea of what makes a Kodak moment. "...Ahh!, and here's Jonny fishing trash out of the bins at the car park. They grow up so fast..."

i am not 100% sure, but i do believe this is the Abbey of Ettal, Kloster Ettal in Bavaria. Maybe a fellow bavarian still living in bavaria can confirm?
Ettal is only 10 miles from "GAP" Garmisch Partenkirchen.

My daughter just walked by and said "oooh, I like that dress on the right". She likes old VW's too, I promise.

And, she will probably start making that dress soon.

I couldn’t find this ad in the vintage ads and hadn’t ever saw it before. If it’s been here previously please disregard.

That map light was a common feature on board old boats.

I had one that looked very similar and had a red filter built in for night use. Just flip a lever and ta da. I was told it was an old aircraft map light. Picked it up at the swapmeet years ago.

I was gonna ask if that was a map light. What an excellent group of photos.

Yes, it's a late 1940's instrument/map light from a large military aircraft like a B-29, they had a red filter as well as an adjustable beam from flood to spot, dimmable too. You could also pull it out of the bracket and use it handheld.

Yes, I had forgotten about the adjustable beam.
