Gosh it is crazy to think that busses were getting that rare, already by the early to mid seventies according to that photo. Must have a regional thing Confused

Ah, a white splitwindow panel bus.
That's how we used to get from New Jersey to Killington, VT. in the late '70's.

It was my brother Dave's bus. My other older brother Howie always got to ride shotgun. I was in the rear with the gear, no rear seat, 3 inches of foam covered by brown/yellow/tan shag carpeting.

It was more like a kidnapping...I could only see the lights flashing up on the ceiling at night. And it was WAY too hot, the Southwinds heater was always cranking in the rear, as that was where the duct was. The heat would have to diffuse forward to keep my bros warm. And it was COLD in the late '70's.

^^ perhaps the tarps were to keep the hockey pucks from the adjoining rink from busting car windows?

I lost that bet , oh well ; just goes to show that there was still ice based sports south of the Canadian border at that time. Smile They were pretty lean on busses there at that time also. It was probably because of all those big assed mountains that would surly give any older bus a pretty good beat down Wink

I know I've seen them in around Phoenix in the past but now that I think about it, not sure I've seen any of them recently. Maybe they took them down?

I think they were targeted at old people who get on the freeway and drive super slow, usually because they shouldn't have a license anymore.

around here they are on all interstates. we have 85, 75, and 20 running throught town. usually the minimum is 40 i think, but then again i am more concerned with the topspeed dragging the camper to all the nascar races around here. 75 is our travel speed unless the speed limit is like 60 or so.

Actually, I see them all of the time, mostly on city expressways, not so much InterStates. Just saw one the other day in Tampa. It's just as dangerous to drive too slow as it is to speed I guess.

on this side of the world, minimum speed is regulated to be half the maximum allowed.
