I'm not that familiar with the type 3. I know the fenders unbolt, but how much of it is cut up? Is it like cutting a bug when making a Baja? _________________ Prosit!

I’d take a wild guess that it had been bashed in front and back. After an attempt to “fix” it by cutting off the damage maybe the thought came in… “hey, how ‘bout making a baja out of it?” _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

Yes, it looks like similar cuts to a Baja Beetle - front and rear look cut after they removed the fenders. I believe they must have cut the inner rear fender wells too for those wheels/tires _________________ How to Post Photos

Looks like it's already sporting a mudpie in the rocker panel, maybe that was the nearest solid area the repairman (?) could find to screw it to? Many of these got driven year round in some really salty conditions and rotted out fast. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Where was this auto show? Brazil? Kombis are not what you usually see at an auto show, usually it is the fancier models. Also, the bumpers are not painted like you usually see on German models. _________________ .

In the very top center of the photo I see the letters "S.A." South Africa?
EDIT: just below and to the right of that I can read "adio pecas" which strikes me as Brazilian dialect for some reason. Does it mean "auto parts"?

I thought it was strange to have earlier buses & a big window Beetle in the same show. _________________ aka: Evan
