I was watching a well-made but depressing documentary on how very big money has corrupted various aspects of our system, and saw a 1 1/2 sec image of a Split with a logo on the door- unfortunately cropped as to be difficult to interpret. The van is dark, probably black, and the lettering, dark on a white circle on the driver's door, could be the a and the b of ABC television. It appears in a street scene during the Selma AL civil rights march/demonstrations in March of 1965. Look at 1 hr 37 min and 30 seconds of the film, entitled "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy", viewable free at: https://www.amazon.com/Best-Democracy-Money-Can-Buy/dp/B078SHBQLB/&tag=thomhartmann If anyone from that part of the south recalls seeing a logo like that on a van, do share your recall. And while you're there, take a look at the movie-- mostly creative, and very depressing in some of its details; it delves into the erosion of our traditional democratic processes in the age of billionaires. |

What plaid did they use on the curtains?

I've got one extra picture of this incident.
I thought is was a LHD Swedish import with the cargo doors on the left but if i look closely it is a RHD.
The bus is outfitted with some sort of Jokon blinkers on the front.
This is a semaphore bus 1957 or 1958.
The AP license can be dated back to the early of 1960.
Maybe an English expat took his beloved young camper with him to Holland.

This is an odd one!
The bus it's license plate can be dated back to 1959.
The picture is taken around 1960 by Elsevier a Dutch publisher in Amsterdam.
The bus is probably white on top and red on the bottom.
It's missing all deluxe trim and jail bars.
This could be a converted kombi to a 15 window.

Not impossible, capable bodymen have been around since the horse and buggy days and roof or window clips from junkyard donors aren't something recent.
And being close to new doesn't change much either, could have had roof damage, or maybe the owner just wanted something different or more suitable to thier needs? My Dad had a near new 62 GMC pickup stretched 2 feet in the box ~ 1963 to haul longer loads with for example. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
