I've not seen this before. Half a high roof? Is it a hard top metal or like fiberglass of its time or is it a soft top like canvas or vinyl? _________________ Prosit!

Don’t usually see accessory lights mounted in the body. _________________ aka: Evan

That can't have been legal even then. Probably why the picture was taken. _________________ Andy

at least he used a funnel. Keeps the road clean.
interesting vehicles too, a french Renault R4, Opel Kadett A, a panel, a 67-ish? beetle, another french car the 2CV6 Dyane, the bigger version of the ugly duckling 2CV4. _________________ regards

Weird that those grates are even there; the road looks crowned. They must be vented access to something. |

i think this is the man hole, the place where the service guys climb in, the drains are on the side of the road next to the curb. Naturally the vent is also higher than the drain. _________________ regards

Aha...hence the funnel to go into the tool/lift hole.
'Round my parts the manhole would access a separate sewer pipe whilst the storm drains would empty to cement culverts. |

most places in europe storm drains can't go anywhere without going through a treatment plant. Just like the sewage. Might have been different back then, though. _________________ regards

My dad and all the dads used to just pour the oil along whatever weeds they wanted dead kinda like weed killer of today. Then we had an oil hole where we'd pour it in the dirt. Once a long time later I was digging near the oil hole and found the oil had somewhat broken down into a yellowy crusty thick dirt. Nothing grew there though. The service stations around used to pour the oil onto their dirt to keep the dust down so our dad's didn't like us kids running around like whools while the car got filled or serviced. |
