i remember those straps to keep your sweatpants from riding up. This must have been a problem in those days.

Something I've always wondered about in that photo; is the passenger seat bent from the girl or is the girl the owner and it's bent from the men?

Sounds like someone tied to Mercedes Benz or Porsche
